Facebook has also confirmed the fact that the Boomerang will be replacing the looping GIF creation in the Facebook camera; the Boomerang feature, however, is already available on Instagram.

It has been a long time since Facebook had come up with their backup facility, therefore, it is quite disappointing it took a huge span of time for Instagram to bring this update.

Facebook is calling its AR drawing feature "3D drawing", and it will let users doodle on images they capture using Facebook Camera while clicking or after. Users will then be able to wrap around their scribbles around the objects, but the technology is still far from ideal.

The news comes after Instagram's parent company Facebook's Cambridge Analytica data scandal due to which Instagram earlier cut off the Application program interface (API) access for some developers and limited on how often others can use its API to collect data on Instagram users.

Facebook has been working on pushing into the AR sector for a while now. You can add the drawings before or while you're recording, allowing you to draw on something out of frame, then pan or unzoom to reveal it. Facebook will eventually add more brushes beyond the pastel gradient colors seen here.

Previously, the company revealed its AR effects back at F8 a year ago.

The details of this feature are yet to be finalized and Instagram did not go into any detail at the moment. Facebook Stories has not been able to duplicate that success yet, but the company likely hopes that integrating the established Boomerang brand will change this.

Instagram makes it easy for users to cross-post to Facebook when they publish a Story. Facebook Stories will now allow a user to scribble or draw shapes on videos of the world around them.
