The return of Siegfried was marked by the release of a dedicated new trailer showing his powerful moves, and a batch of screenshots. Siegfried and his massive sword enter the ring.

He's pitted against Nightmare in much of it. Bandai Namco says that Siegfried "has but one reason to fully free himself from the cursed sword's grasp!" He's also one of four characters that have appeared in every game in the series since Soul Edge, with the others being Nightmare, Mitsurugi, and Cervantes.

A press release from Bandai Namco Entertainment America has some additional details on his background story for the sixth core installment of this franchise. After falling in combat as Nightmare to Kilik and his comrades, Siegfried is haunted by memories of murdering his father and the atrocities he committed as Nightmare. Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series is the guest character in the game.

Surprising nobody, but still a nice confirmation to have, Siegfried is now confirmed as a playable character for Soul Caliber VI at launch.
