National Football League rejects Vontaze Burfict's appeal, upholds 4-game suspension

When it was first reported that Cincinnati Bengals was to be suspended for violation of the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, he tried to indirectly blame JuJu Smith-Schuster.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also reports that the $11.3m guaranteed portion of Burfict's $33m three-year contract with the Bengals will become void because of the suspension.

This is the third consecutive season in which Burfict will not be eligible to play in Week 1 due to a suspension. "Sure, we have conversations on that a lot", Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin said last month at the annul league meetings.
