Nixon has been working closely recently with Bill Hyers and Rebecca Katz, both progressives and advisors to New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio.

New Yorkers or not, it's time all of us knew our Miranda rights (sorry, had to do one pun, too good, won't do it again). DeBlasio and Cuomo have been at odds since DeBlasio took office, for Democratic insidery bro-ey reasons most New Yorkers rightfully DGAF about.

"Unlike Governor Cuomo, Cynthia Nixon rides the subway every day", it says on Nixon's website.

A Siena College poll released Monday showed 66% of registered Democrats in NY favored Cuomo in a Cuomo-Nixon primary.

"We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us".

Nixon is best known for her entertainment career.

Rumors of Nixon's campaign for governor began last year year as the actor continued to voice her longstanding activism for education and the LGBT community.

Jim Carrey under fire over 'White House press secretary' painting
Not long after Carrey tweeted the portrait out to his 17.8 million followers, the comedian and actor was met with angry responses. Jim Carrey appeared to allude to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders with his drawing of a "so-called Christian".

Nixon has been an outspoken critic of Cuomo and his administration.

In head-to-head contests, though, Cuomo fares far better.

Even so, the poll found Cuomo not only has a huge lead over Nixon in a Democratic primary, but also over two of his largely unknown potential GOP rivals in the general election.

"Cuomo has the support of a small plurality of independents against either and strong support from downstate voters, while upstate voters are closely divided between Cuomo and either Republican".

Her deliberations have appeared to prompt Cuomo to racket up his vast campaign apparatus, perhaps earlier than expected.

The poll found voters support stronger gun-control laws. They also favour Cuomo over state Sen.

"Voters who claim to have a gun or rifle in their home - about one in five voters statewide - oppose the SAFE Act by a relatively narrow 49 percent to 42 percent", Greenberg said. It had a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
