Mourinho in 'worst manager' jibe to De Boer

I heard the worst manager in the history of the Premier League, Frank de Boer - seven games, seven defeats, zero goals - saying that it was bad for Rashford to be managed by me because he would never play.

De Boer had praised Rashford after his impact in Saturday's win over Liverpool and said it is a "pity" the 20-year-old plays under Mourinho at Old Trafford - prompting an angry response from the United boss.

Mourinho was referencing De Boer's stint with Crystal Palace at the start of the season in which he took charge of seven PL games winning none, losing all and scoring no goals in the process.

Not trusting young players is a stick Mourinho has been beaten with since his first spell at Chelsea but a stat has been unearthed that will change your mind on everything you've heard about Rashford recently.

Frank de Boer is now keen to let the matter die down.

The former Crystal Palace manager made the headlines earlier this week when he claimed Manchester United star Marcus Rashford would be better off working with a different coach.

"If he was coached by Frank he would be coached how to lose because he lost every game".

During Mourinho's press conference for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash against Sevilla, the Manchester United boss was asked if Marcus Rashford had done enough in the 2-1 win over Liverpool to retain his spot in the team.

"They scored goals in Liverpool, drew the match in Liverpool".

"I try to give the best to the kid, I have to be honest and give the credit to the people of the academy that was responsible for his formation". Mourinho bought [Alexis] Sanchez in January and of course it's the truth that it's not good for Rashford's development and he will play less now for Man United. I'm really happy too.

His wonderful brace against Liverpool might have surprised non-Manchester United fans given it was his first start in the Premier League in 2018 but it didn't surprise the Old Trafford faithful.

"I think that Gareth Southgate doesn't mind that I say a couple of minutes of our conversation were about Marcus", said Mourinho.
