Hearthstone: The Witchwood adds Monster Hunt mode

To make things more fair, players will be able to pick up upgrades to their deck after each battle.

Blizzard announced newest Hearthstone expansion 'The Witchwood, ' only moments ago. Aside from winning new cards, players will be able to round out their collections by purchasing new card packs or disenchanting some of their existing cards to craft the ones they're missing.

An announcement video, which features a musical number and a preview of Witchwood cards from the development team, can be viewed below.

Ben Brode and company provide more details on the gameplay implications of the new cards in the Blair Witch-style video above, adding to a delightful collection of very unusual Hearthstone trailers. The expansion is set to release sometime between now and the end of April, so players won't have to wait long to get their hands on these new cards. The citizens of this proud kingdom, who can shapeshift into ferocious wolf-beasts known as worgen, are bringing the fight to The Witchwood with tooth and claw-and soon, Hearthstone players will join the pack and help them face down the horrors within.

Along with a bevy of new cards, Witchwood will also introduce a new Echo keyword. In addition, crafty deck-builders can employ powerful minions that challenge them to use only odd- or even-cost cards in exchange for a potent advantage.

If that news wasn't enough to wet your whistle, Blizzard have also revealed that a new single-player experience is on the way. The new Monster Hunt mode will work similarly to the Koboids and Catacombs' Dungeon Run, as you'll need to take on a string of encounters, before eventually coming face to face with a boss.

The leaders of Gilneas are finalizing preparations for these expeditions, and will share more details in the weeks to come. And there will be four new heroes to lead the fight, each with their own hero power and "cards that create completely new playstyles and strategies". Worgen cards swap attack and health each turn they're in your hand, so you can hold onto them at different times for different results. When an Echo card is played, you can keep playing as many copies of that card as you like that turn, provided you have enough mana.
