Orsi also touched upon the Game of Thrones spin-offs (or "successor shows") which many fans hope will fill the Westeros-sized hole in their lives once the main series wraps up in 2019. But HBO itself has said very little since the initial announcement.

These revelations came from a panel titled "The Best of HBO" at the INTV conference in Israel on Tuesday, where HBO's senior VP of drama Francesca Orsi addressed the future of the Thrones franchise.

Those who have stuck with Game of Thrones for seven seasons will know that it is unlikely to end happily.

The network has already made it clear that the spin-offs will not feature any familiar characters or be based on Martin's existing works, so unfortunately we will not be getting Robert's Rebellion or any tales of Dunk and Egg.

She said that at the table read of the final six scripts ("a dream opportunity", she said), everyone stood up and applauded for 15 to 20 minutes. HBO now has five potential spinoff ideas in development.

"None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started to fall down to their deaths".
