Oddly enough, Punk was responding to a troll on Twitter when the news broke.

UFC fighter/former WWE star CM Punk has confirmed he'll be stepping into the octagon once again for a fight set to take place in Chicago.

Almost two years after his UFC signing was announced, Punk stepped in the octagon against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September 2016. Gall dominated every aspect of the bout, finishing Punk via rear-naked choke in the first round. His cross-over to mixed-martial-arts helped the UFC build a bigger fan base.

The CM Punk MMA show isn't over just yet. Whittaker, who met Rosenberg at a previous Wrestlemania event, proposed to his girlfriend Thursday, with the help of CM Punk. Now, it looks like White is willing to give Punk another chance inside the Octagon on home turf. Despite that, the UFC brought him in no doubt hoping to boost ratings.

Burning Stock on the move: Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (NYSE:DKS)

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan has called for a fight between Floyd Mayweather and CM Punk.

Since the report of the fight came out a few weeks back, a tweet would then be put out there by Punk indicating that he is fighting at UFC 225, but an opponent was not mentioned. Should the UFC decide to put this fight together, it is bound to do well and sell a lot of pay-per-views because the UFC would be engaging an MMA audience, boxing fans from around the world and WWE fans as well.

June 9 is, of course, the date of UFC 225 in Chicago.
