Bears to sign Super Bowl hero Trey Burton

Following the first Super Bowl win in franchise history, the Philadelphia Eagles were expected to undergo a few changes to the roster given their salary cap situation.

Stuck behind Pro Bowler Zach Ertz on the Eagles, Burton had 23 catches for 248 yards in 2017, but scored 5 touchdowns in those limited opportunities. The 26-year-old Parkey has converted 86.4 of his career FG tries in parts of four seasons with the Eagles, Browns and Dolphins. Investing in Burton like this would indicate he'd actually be higher on the depth chart, but it's entirely possible the Bears could use both guys in two-tight-end sets.

The Chicago Bears are making moves to surround their young quarterback with as much talent as possible, and have reportedly agreed to terms with free agent tight end Trey Burton. The Bears also spent a second-round draft choice on tight end Adam Shaheen. His best game by far came against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13 last season when he caught five passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns.

But the Bears want Burton for his receiving ability, not his passing ability. But in 2016, with Ertz missing some time, Burton had 37 receptions for 327 yards and an 8.8-yard average.

The former Philadelphia Eagles tight end, who threw a touchdown in the team's victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, will sign a four-year, $32-million contract with the Chicago Bears.
