Winnipeg flights impacted by Air Canada system outage

Vancouver International Airport said in a statement that the outage is "causing delays".

Air Canada travelers have taken to Twitter in frustration over the service interruption.

Air Canada said on its website it's working to resolve the issue and apologizes for the inconvenience. "Thank you for your patience", Air Canada said in a tweet.

Passengers are reporting long lines at the airport and it appears some flights are grounded until further notice.

Air Canada customers in Canada and around the world were unable to check in or book a flight after a malfunction in the company's system.

According to reports from multiple airports, including Toronto and Calgary, Air Canada is now experiencing a network outage nationwide with its computer system across the country.

Departing passengers were being checked in manually, with some people tweeting pictures of their handwritten boarding passes. Reports are coming in from travellers worldwide, saying their Air Canada planes have been grounded.

The glitch led to long delays at YVR for passengers who either had to wait a long time or weren't able to board their flights.
