Sushma Swaraj condemns Naresh Agrawal's comment on Jaya Bachchan

Aggarwal, who joined the BJP, lashed out against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for weighing his contribution to the Samajwadi Party against someone who "dances" and works in films. "He is welcome. However, his comments regarding Jaya Bachhan ji are improper and unacceptable", Ms Swaraj has tweeted".

Naresh Agrawal, a powerful Samajwadi Party leader once known to be close to party chief Akhilesh Yadav, joined the BJP today in Delhi with a controversial remark that forced his new party to issue a disclaimer.

His comments came at a press conference, in BJP Headquarters at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg to welcome him to the party, but BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, who was present along with Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, was quick to distance from it saying his party respects people from all walks of life, whether it is from film world or any other sector. Last month, Naresh Agarwal triggered a controversy after he made casteist remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Last week, the SP named Jaya Bachchan as its Rajya Sabha nominee, overlooking Agarwal, according to a report in Financial Express.

Agrawal also said that his MLA son will vote in favour of the BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls. The party, after its landslide victory in assembly elections previous year, will win eight seats easily and will have some votes to spare.

Agrawal represents Hardoi constituency in the Rajya Sabha, and his term expires in March.
