The 2019 Ford Mustang California Special pulls some of the aesthetic DNA from the original 1968 auto without managing to look hokey, no mean feat these days. The new 2019 Mustang GT California Special is inspired by the 1967 Shelby GT notchback coupe prototype, which was referred to as the original California Special.

The Mustang California Special has been a part of the Mustang repertoire off and on since 1968.

On the outside, the California Special Mustang flaunts a fading stripe stretching from the 5.0 badge up front to the rear fenders, a blackened grille, a splitter donated by the Mustang Performance Pack 1 and five-spoke machined rims. The vehicle also sports a new front splitter and a "California Special" badge on the trunk lid. Unique wheels round out the CS package.

Inside are Miko suede-trimmed seats with "GT/CS" embossed on them, red stitching and custom GT/CS floor mats.
