According to the trade, Cohan's contract is up at the end of the current eighth season, and she does not have a new contract in place yet, making it likely that she could leave the show.

It's reported that AMC made Lauren a modesty salary increase in return for a new contract, thought it was rejected.

Scott Gimple, previously showrunner for The Walking Dead who is now the Chief Content Officer of the entire The Walking Dead universe, said he's "incredibly hopeful" about the talks, but it's clear nothing is guaranteed.
