"I am the guy who sold ammunition to Stephen Paddock", Haig said without disclosing any details. It is unclear whether Mr. Haig, who was identified in the documents as a person of interest, remains under investigation.

A US district judge ruled on Tuesday to unseal almost 300 pages of search warrant records issued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) after the deadest mass shooting in the modern history of the United States last October.

Douglas Haig says he met the gunman one time and he had been contacted by investigators earlier in the case.

The mass shooting on October 1 left 58 people dead and hundreds of others injured.

"Paddock did not commite a crime until he fired the first round into the crowd at the Las Vegas village", a preliminary report stated.

Clark County District Court Judge Elissa Cadish acknowledged that a member of her court staff failed to black out the man's name on one of 276 pages of documents released to news organizations including The Associated Press and Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Reporters at the AP never received the document with Haig's name, but the news organization used the name based on the Review-Journal's reporting citing police documents.

The gunman shot and killed himself before authorities reached him.

Authorities previously said an unnamed person could face unspecified charges in the October 1 shooting that killed 58 people and injured more than 800 others on the Las Vegas Strip.

The warrants show that investigators found 23 rifles and a handgun in Paddock's 32nd-floor hotel suite and an adjoining room.

Separately, Judge Timothy Williams ruled that the Clark County coroner should release autopsy records of Paddock, and the people killed by gunfire, with victims' names blacked out.

In Nevada, records are public unless the law says otherwise, she said.

Lombardo also said he expected a final report on the shooting to be released before the end of 2018.

Fudenberg maintains the records are confidential, and restricts release to families and to police investigating deaths.

The police report characterized the 64-year-old Paddock - a retired accountant who amassed a millionaire's fortune - as a high-stakes video poker player on a losing streak who was obsessed with cleanliness, may have been bipolar and was having difficulties with his live-in girlfriend.

"The court correctly recognized the presumption of public access to records, even when a mass tragedy occurs", Review-Journal attorney Maggie McLetchie said.

The sheriff has said he does not expect Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, to face criminal charges.
