App State Tennis Player Suspended For Alleged Racist Comments

The Black player, John Wilson of North Carolina AT&T, an HBCU, put Brown on blast on Twitter.

An Appalachian State tennis player is accused of making racist remarks to an opponent from North Carolina A&T.

Well, Black Twitter and beyond made sure that Appalachian State University heard Wilson's tweet loud and clear.

On Monday, Appalachian State said it immediately suspended Brown because he "engaged in behavior that was derogatory and offensive".

The issue first came to light when the victim, John Wilson IV, from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (A&T) tweeted out saying a white student from Appalachian State University racially abused him during an NCAA Division I match on Sunday.

"Their coach responded by saying, ".we have a black guy on our team".

Update: Even though I have yet to be reached out personally from the administration of Appalachian State.

School officials said they learned about the comment around 10 p.m. Sunday night and started investigating the next morning, the Winston-Salem Journal reported. The university said Brown has been suspended indefinitely.

A Black college tennis player was on the receiving end of racist comments being hurled his way by his white opponent over the weekend.
