In the future, we plan to offer Miitomo coins and game tickets as a login bonus so that you can enjoy "shop" and "Otoshi Mii" until the end of the service.

The game ceased the sale of Miitomo coins on the day of the announcement, according to Nintendo's Japanese website.

"Miitomo will no longer be available as of Wednesday 9th May 2018", Nintendo confirms.

If you launch the app after the end of service on May 9, you'll see a message informing you that service has ended.

It also noted that they will issue a refund through the application for purchased coins by the conclusion of the app, and you can see just how many you have through the in-game menu.

If you're still playing, Nintendo is sending Miitomo out with a farewell festival. Miitomo- themed icons and clothing items used in your Nintendo Account or the Super Mario Run™ game will not display after the service has ended. The news first broke via Nintendo's Japanese Twitter account, included below. The tweet linked to a blog post announcing the termination of the Miitomo mobile app. While it received generally positive feedback, the company has announced that they will be terminating the service on May 9 at 4 PM JST / 2 AM ET.

There's no word on whether or not the service is shutting down outside of Japan, though it's unlikely the app will continue in the rest of the world.

What are your thoughts on the end of Miitomo? Nintendo has since released a full English statement detailing the shutdown of Miitomo.

Miitomo will end its service at 12:00 AM (PDT) on 5/9/2018, and we want to thank you for your support since the Miitomo app's launch. This "freemium" social networking app allowed users to interact with friends through a series of questions, allowing other players to visit each other.
