He said Trump's comments on what is going on legislatively in the pro-life arena were "great".

And in keeping with the March's theme "Love Saves Lives", Smith praised pro-life outreach to post-abortive women and their courageous witness. "You love your families, you love your neighbors, you love our nation and you love every child - born and unborn - because you believe every life is sacred, that every child is a precious gift from God".

"President Trump has never pretended to be a Bible-banging evangelical", said Penny Young Nance, president of Concerned Women for America, a Christian conservative organization. "Under my administration, we will always defend the very first right in the Declaration of Independence, and that is the right to life", he added.

The rallies first began in response to passage of Roe versus Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court ruling that confirmed the legality of a woman's right to have an abortion.

Four-and-a-half decades after Roe v. Wade and its sister case, Doe v. Bolton, were decided, more than three-quarters of Americans want substantial restrictions on abortion, not the almost unrestricted abortion regime that these cases allowed.

And while thousands of pro-life supporters gathered at the National Mall, just down the road on Capitol Hill lawmakers are debating a bill that would crack down on abortion providers. Blackburn said her motivation to pass this bill was sparked in part by the Kermit Gosnell trial. "Only God gives life, and only God can take it away". He also described a new proposal that will protect the conscience rights and religious freedom of doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who object to abortion.

Vice President Mike Pence did much the same in his remarks from the Rose Garden.

FESSLER: And she believes the tide's moving in that direction, but polls show that public opinion is deeply divided and has pretty much remained the same for decades.

She represents an organisation that helps abortion clinic workers draw up an exit strategy when they are ready to leave the industry called 'An Then There Were None'.

Rep. Martha Roby took the stand in support of the act.

Pence led the charge for reinstating the so-called Mexico City policy that requires foreign non-governmental organizations that receive USA funding to vow to not discuss or perform abortions.

He also cut off taxpayer funding for the U.N. Population Fund, which colludes with China's state-run program of forced abortion and sterilization.

As a result, abortions are at a 40-year low and abortion facilities are closing at a rapid pace.

He touted recent pro-life victories in the House, including the passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act on Friday.
