"While commiserating with the immediate families of the victims of the condemnable killings of the past few days in Benue State and the entire citizens of the state, we can not but condemn the actions of some of our states' chief executives, including Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, whose actions, abuse of state power and the prevailing insecurity situation in their states, have led to the loss of the innocent lives of some citizens of the state", the statement signed by the group's convener, Mr Odeyemi Oladimeji, said.

As condemnation continues to trail Governor Simon Lalong's utterances against his Benue state counterpart, Dr. Samuel Ortom, the Senator representing Plateau North zone in the National Assembly, Jonah David Jang has admonished Lalong to be sober and repentant over his action, and to apologise to Ortom, adding that refusing to answer his calls won't resolve the issue.

The Plateau governor said he was extremely sorry for his remarks, which were not helpful at the time he should have consoled and sympathized with the government and people of Benue State over the gruesome murder of over 73 innocent persons by rampaging herdsmen.

Ortom had said Lalong never warned him against Open grazing prohibition law, noting that when he watched Lalong on TV saying he warned him against the law he tried to reach Lalong on phone but he refused to answer the call.

Governor Samuel Ortom who made this known at an emergency security meeting held yesterday in government house Makurdi, said that the new operation time for Okada now is between 6am to 6pm till the security situation improved.

Bello-Torob also lauded the government for deploying soldiers to the affected three states: Taraba, Benue and Nasarawa to maintain law and order as well as prevent possible escalation of the crisis.

Another blast of Arctic air on the way for Monday
The combination of snow and ice will result in hard travel conditions, potentially for both the morning and evening commutes. Another shot of cold air will blow our tonight into Saturday but other than a random flurry or two, we should be snow-free.

The statement also described as unfair, the attempt by section of the country to continually push every blames over the crisis on President Muhammadu Buhari.

Nanle had said Jang was not the right person to advise Lalong considering that there were more deaths during the administration of Jang than any other administration.

"He has also failed to mention which law put the ranching policy in the state in place".

"I said I will not do the law before implementation".

"We want to assure the people of Plateau State and indeed all Nigerians that dialogue around all the options for peaceful coexistence amongst all citizens remains the best solution to any situation that is a threat to peace in the country".

"As a group, we berate those who have taken to the social media to make negative statements and draw political points out of the unfortunate situation in Benue, while the pains in the grieving hearts of the victims were still fresh".
