Nintendo to release a Mario tennis game in spring 2018

As expected, expanding the list of Nintendo Switch games was one of the highlights of the event. The PS4 and Xbox One still sold quite well in their first year, but Nintendo pushed all their chips into the middle in 2017, and broke sales records because of it.

After days - nay weeks - of speculation and anticipation, fans finally have the Nintendo Direct they've been hoping for.

Nintendo has been the king of doing its own thing (for better or worse) since before the NES was released, and it continues down that path with the Switch.

Known third-party exclusives that have yet to be given dates include Project Octopath Traveler and The World Ends With You: Final Remix from Square Enix, No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again and SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy.

Nintendo opened 2018 with an announcement it made during its first Nintendo Direct presentation for the year that more game ports would be coming to the Switch console. The base game will soon be available for the Switch along with its downloadable content "Artorias of the Abyss".

It's a competitive online mode that has you hide a balloon somewhere across the world's maps. Summer will see the release of both the 2v2 fighting game SNK Heroines ~Tag Team Frenzy~ and action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.

In an interview with French publication Les Numériques, Nintendo France Managing Director Philippe Lavoué stated that the company isn't now researching the addition of 4K or VR to the Switch.
