Heavy, mixed precipitation including sleet and heavy, wet snow will fall within that time making travel very hard to almost impossible at times. Risky travel conditions will develop along area roadways.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 50 and a low around 25. Once a change to sleet occurs, a tenth to three tenths of an inch of sleet can be expected in those same areas. He said the upcoming storm will be "wide spread snow". Rain is expected to change to freezing rain, then to sleet and snow into Friday evening as low pressure develops, the National Weather Service forecasts. Day, there will be a 30 percent chance of snow before noon, with a high near 21, the weather service said. Temperatures stay well below freezing through the weekend, with highs only in the low to mid 20s.

Winds could be sustained at 18-28 miles per hour, forecasters said, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour through mid-afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southeast MI that goes into effect from 4 a.m. through 7 p.m. Friday.

A Flood Watch has also been issued for much of the area from 7 p.m. tonight through Saturday afternoon. They're just not sure yet whether - or how much - will come in the form of snow or freezing rain.

Within this band, there is the potential for some locations to receive up to a foot of snow. On top of the ice, snow can fall.

Past year more than 61 inches of snow fell on Spokane in the winter. The rain may remain watery but bitterly cold as it falls on West Virginia, Pennsylvania, central and upstate NY to northern New England. Up to an inch of rain and the recent snowpack melting could cause localized flooding Friday morning. Drivers should be aware that even trace amounts of ice can make the roads very slick, especially after a period of rain that may have washed away road treatments.

In some areas, higher accumulations may lead to some downed tree limbs or weaker trees and trigger some power outages.

Further south towards the I-40 corridor, a wintry mix will be possible but impacts are expected to be minimal if any at all. Snowfall accumulations vary greatly.
