Stars go wild at the Critics' Choice Awards

On Thursday, Get Out won big at the Critics' Choice Awards, taking home two awards early in the night: best original screenplay for Jordan Peele and best sci-fi or horror movie.

"The Shape of Water" picked up a bit more buzz Thursday over its chances of a best-picture Oscar.

For television, Walton Goggins and Mayim Bialik won the supporting actor and actress prizes for Vice Principals and The Big Bang Theory, respectively.

"Blade Runner 2049", "Call Me By Your Name", "In The Fade", "Phantom Thread", "War for the Planet of the Apes" and "The Florida Project" also got accolades, with "Baby Driver" and "Dunkirk" being the only films to tie for an award (Best Editing). The show also picked up best-limited series.

This award was launched in 2016, and it will continue till 2020. Black was a way for celebrities to show solidarity with victims of sexual harassment, as well as embrace the death of outdated and misogynistic Hollywood practices - black is the colour of mourning after all. Sterling K. Brown was honored with Best Actor in a Drama Series award for his stunning performance on NBC's "This Is Us".
