Schalke confirms talks over Chelsea full-back Rahman

Rahman, 23, had a successful loan spell with the Gelsenkirchen club last season before injuring his knee in January, effectively ending his chances of securing a permanent move.

The Ghanaian has only just recently returned to training for Chelsea but a decision has been made to let him go.

The 23-year-old is now on loan with Schalke 04 with the German outlet wishing to make his stay permanent.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has suggested that he is happy to give the green light for Schalke 04 to sign Baba Rahman on a six-month loan deal.

"Now he's recovering and I think it could be an interesting option for the player to try to recover with them".

Heidel has pushed the ball into Chelsea's court and has insisted that Schalke are prepared to hold talks with the player, if the Blues are ready to let him leave in the winter window.

Baba's injury and following setback in recovery have meant that he's not had any significant football action in nearly a year as he's only been able to join first-team training once or twice since the summer.
