"I have a flat T-wave and I'll have to get an echo [cardiogram] on my heart every six months and an MRI scan every year", McIlory told the Telegraph.

"The rib's fine, no problems whatsoever - I had an MRI scan on my thoracic spine and all was okay", he said.

A four-time major victor, McIlroy claimed the most recent of those at the 2014 US PGA Championship.

Health concerns aside, McIlroy sounded an extremely optimistic tone about once again establishing himself as one of the sport's top contenders, proclaiming: "Maybe before, I had to win from the front".

His time away to recover from the rib ailment-his last appearance was the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in early October-dropped him to 11th in the World Golf Ranking. "Hey, I was planning on doing that anyway", he said. "I knew within myself that I couldn't compete at the end of last season because I hadn't done the work beforehand, and that's because I hadn't been fit enough and if you can't practice, you can't compete".

Man Lost On Lake St. Clair Ice Lucky To Be Alive
That's when the Coast Guard jumped into action, and hoisted the man from the ice about 1.5 miles from shore. He was on the ice for over twelve hours and said the fog prevented him from being able to see shore.

He was referring to the European Tour's Abu Dhabi Championship, where he will begin a busy schedule in the build up to April's U.S. Masters, the only major he needs to win to complete the career grand slam.

After revealing his heart scare, Rory McIlroy says he's ready to get back to action for first time in 4 months.

He added, "I still feel that on my day, if I'm on my roll, and especially if I'm playing with them".

"That hasn't always been the case with me". "Let's just say that between now and when I signed off past year, I feel way more optimistic, focused, motivated, purposeful".

"I played my best past year when I played the last round of the British Masters and actually had a sniff". "I'm fit and healthy and can't wait to get my 2018 season started in Abu Dhabi next week".
