Thirty minutes into the blackout, staff at the convention center said that they are aware of the power outage, investigating it, and working on a fix.

In an unprecedented turn, a major blackout happened during one of this year's biggest tech shows. If you've never attended, you don't need much to make the most of CES-just some interesting new technology, a few good friends, and a healthy helping of Las Vegas showmanship.

The brightest minds in the world, but nobody thought to think that it can rain in Vegas...

"For two and a half hours it was a reboot", Lauren said.

"Today at approximately 11:15 a.m. PT, the Central Hall and South Hall bridge meeting rooms at the Las Vegas Convention Center lost power", CTA said in a joint statement with the Las Vegas Visitor and Convention Authority and NV Energy. We will continue to limit access to the LVCC until full power has been restored. Power was fully restored at 2:10 p.m., as was shared by the organizers of CES 2018.

Attendees took to Twitter to share images and poke fun at the eerily darkened convention space.

Some publicists even tried to exploit the power outage.

CES attracts about 180,000 attendees and roughly 4,000 exhibitors. Any tech being shown off at the show that requires an outlet isn't operational. There's nothing more tragic than rows upon rows of blackened 4K HD TV displays.
