Machado and relievers Zach Britton and Brad Brach, all of whom are eligible for free agency after this season, reached agreements on 2018 salaries January 12.

The Baltimore Orioles have yet to trade Manny Machado and may not do so, but one team that is persistently inquiring about him is the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to a report.

The Orioles also have six other arbitration-eligible players: closer Zach Britton, second baseman Jonathan Schoop, Gausman, Brach, Joseph and shortstop Tim Beckham.

Britton, who is expected to miss the first half of the season after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon while doing sprints in December, agreed to a $12 million deal. According to MLBTradeRumors.com, he was projected to make $17.3 million this upcoming season. Schoop agreed past year to a $3.475 million contract, but after a Most Valuable Oriole season in 2017 the second baseman will more than double his salary. Machado had been named an All-Star in three of the four years prior but was passed over in 2017. The left-hander was the best reliever in baseball in 2016, posting a 0.54 ERA and going 47-for-47 in save chances on his way to finishing fourth in the American League Cy Young vote.

Last year Machado earned a base salary of $11.5 million.

Both Machado and Britton have been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, with talks surrounding the latter quieting down following his injury. His deal for 2018 nets him a $6 million raise. The 27-year-old former No. 1 draft pick hit.306 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs in 50 games with the O's after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays ahead of last year's trade deadline. Brach will receive $5.165 million including incentives.

The Orioles went to the increasingly common "file and trial" position in negotiation with arbitration-eligible players starting last season, meaning that once players exchange salary figures, they are slated to go to a hearing with no further negotiation.
