Karni Sena protests outside CBFC office in Mumbai; members detained

At the CBFC examining committee meeting on December 28, it was decided that the movie would be given a U/A certification as long as the makers incorporate the suggestions and modifications suggested.

The long-drawn battle between the makers of the film and the CBFC ended on December 28 previous year after the CBFC chose to give U/A certificate to the period drama starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. As Per Latest Reports Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film is all set to hit the screens on January 25, 2018.

The film has faced strong opposition from several Rajput groups for alleged distortion of history. With the official handles changing the film's title, it seems like the title have now changed to "Padmaavat".

At least 100 members of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena were detained from Mumbai's Peddar Road area on Friday for protesting outside the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) office in connection with the release of film "Padmavat".

They were even asked to add two disclaimers - one that clearly does not claim historical accuracy, and another which makes the point that the film in no manner subscribes to the practice of Sati or seeks to glorify it.

The Viacom spokesperson also said that an official announcement will be made very soon on the new release date of the film. Shahid Kapoor essays the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh is stepping into the shoes of Alauddin Khilji. And will be clashing with Akshay Kumar's Pad Man.
