Donot interfere in education sector, J&K minister to Army Chief

"It would be premature to say that everything is going to be in our favour, and the USA will do our job vis-à-vis Pakistan. These nations have to be kept on board, and I think we have to put in our wholehearted effort to ensure we continue to support them", he said.

Last week, the US suspended all security assistance to Pakistan until it "takes decisive action against groups, including the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani Network".

"We are ready, but we will continue till we see a decrease in ceasefire violation", Gen Rawat said. "If a task is given to us, we can not say we will not cross the border because they [Pakistan] have nuclear weapons".

"We will call the (nuclear) bluff of Pakistan".

China is exerting pressure but we are prepared to deal with it. We are looking at diplomatic, military and partnering with countries in the region.

While speaking to reporters ahead of the Army Day, the army chief said, "The damage which is being done to us is through the social media. Let's not expect United States to do what we are expected to do", he added.

Rawat said China has been keeping its troops in north Doklam.

General Bipin Rawat said those threats emerging from weapons of potential mass destruction have become a "reality", forcing the security establishment to take necessary precautionary measures.

"A very large amount of disinformation campaign is being spread in Jammu and Kashmir which is radicalising the youths through the social media and through the schools", he said.

"The grassroots problem is here". Rawat suggested that some stone throwers in Kashmir were youth from government schools, and stressed on the need to reform the education system.

With the government imposing a cap of Rs. 10,000 a year on tuition fees for children of the disabled soldiers and those killed in line of duty, the Army chose to set up schools, he said.
