"I've not read one of them that's inaccurate", Durbin said. "What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!". A federal judge in San Francisco has temporarily saved the program and it's giving Dreamers new hope. Recently, however, he has positioned himself as cheerleader-in-chief for Dreamers, as in this September 14 tweet: "Does anybody really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military?"

Alsup also noted the possibility that Trump's termination of the program was "contrived to give the administration a bargaining chip to demand funding for a border wall", as the plaintiffs had argued in their lawsuit. However, the ruling is restricted -the administration does not need to process applications for those who have never before received DACA protections, Alsup said.

Sanders said in a statement released after the meeting that the president and lawmakers "reached an agreement to negotiate legislation that accomplishes critically needed reforms in four high-priority areas: border security, chain migration, the visa lottery, and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy" during a closed-door session.

The 2012 program deferred deportation for the immigrants and allowed them to obtain work permits.

On border security, the plan would provide $2.8 billion, including $1.6 billion for a border barrier, technical surveillance and agent training, plus another $1.2 billion for other border priorities, the aides said.

Verbatim, he said, "We need quick justice, and we need strong justice - much quicker and much stronger than we have right now - because what we have right now is a joke, and it's a laughingstock".

But Trump has also previously suggested that he would seek indirect payment from Mexico to fund the wall. They argued the administration acted arbitrarily when it chose to kill DACA. For now, at least, DACA recipients can breathe easy, but Cater understands this is only temporary.

But until now, Trump's support has been contingent on Congress appropriating money to build a wall on the U.S.

The meeting delivered a significant setback to the bipartisan working group, which first announced the deal earlier on Thursday afternoon.

Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, a Texas Republican, said he told Kelly, then DHS secretary, that someone can't just spend a few hours at the border and think they understand it.
