Bandai Namco has confirmed that Dark Souls Remastered is being released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25.

Though it's unclear just how Dark Souls: Remastered will perform undocked, my bet is that the Switch will run it at a standard 720p 30 fps (which isn't bad).

With the launch of Dark Souls, From Software has announced that it has no plans for another entry in the Dark Souls franchise. The Switch is not going to turn into a dumping ground for games that came out on the Xbox 360 or Wii U four or five years ago. Rumours also suggest that both Dark Souls 2 and 3 will head to Switch sometime after that, so it's a good time to praise the sun.

This means that we'll soon be able to play through the entire Dark Souls trilogy on modern consoles.

Dark Souls rewards and encourages obsession, and it's had plenty of super expensive merchandise before now. Some games try to scare you with bump-in-the-night shocks and far-off howls, but Dark Souls doesn't require such predictable methods of terror.

It's easy to get disappointed that Nintendo didn't reveal a bunch of new games during this latest Direct, but I wouldn't freak out and start worrying that Nintendo is running out of ideas. Dark Souls' brilliant boss fights, incredible combat system, punishing difficulty, learn by doing design, and intricate worlds made it a revolution in game design that is often cited by modern developers as a turning point for the industry. Not to mention the fact that the frame rate disparity pretty much confirms that there won't be any cross-platform play for PVP fans.

Now Nintendo Switch users can experience the game that the rest of have already enjoyed many many hours of.

This announcement comes as a great treat for the Souls series. It's also coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
