Dark Souls Remastered confirmed for Switch release

Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of information about Dark Souls: Remastered out there just yet. Dark Souls Remastered on Switch is said to include all the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, plus improved frame rate and resolution compared to the original release.

One of the most surprising announcements to come out of today's Direct Mini features a game that most of us probably never expected to see on a Nintendo console.

Bandai brings back Dark Souls as a remastered edition. Amazon is taking pre-orders for Dark Souls Remastered on Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox One for $39.99 each.

The first title in the genre-defining action role-playing franchise is also coming to Nintendo Switch.

The NUC8i7HNK will be available first with the VR-ready NUC8i7HVK following a few weeks later. As is usually the case, there is no release date for the new Hades Canyon NUCs as of yet.

The big one, however, is Dark Souls Remastered. This means users will be able to play the game on the portable platform for the first time.

We had new game announcements too, including the latest outing for Mario and co on the tennis court in Mario Tennis Aces, and all female fighter SNK HEROINES Tag Team Frenzy.

It's important to mention that this may be the last we hear of titular Dark Souls series for some time as Dark Souls mastermind Hidetaka Miyazaki said in a tweet previous year that, "Dark Souls is completely done as of The Ringed City" and that him and developers FromSoftware don't have any plans for the future as far the franchise is concerned. Lordran and its cadre of nightmarish monsters will no doubt look even more haunting and treacherous with all of that lovely extra detail.
