Valencia have confirmed the signing of midfielder Francis Coquelin from Arsenal on a four-and-a-half year deal.

Coquelin spoke to former Arsenal team-mates Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin and Santi Cazorla about the move.

Coquelin had been linked to the La Liga side before the January transfer window opened after making only one Premier League appearance for Arsenal this season.

Valencia announced the signing of the French holding midfielder on Thursday on a contract until June 2022. The 26-year-old spent three seasons on loan following his promotion to the senior team before establishing himself under Wenger midway through the 2014/15 campaign.

Coquelin, who is yet to make a senior appearance for the France national team, will be presented by Valencia at 1615 United Kingdom time this afternoon. Apart from the Swiss midfielder, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and recently, youth-team product Joe Willock has also started in midfield ahead of Coquelin. I nearly regret not having come before.

"I'm very happy, it's a big challenge for me, I start a new life, but I'm very excited", Coquelin told Valencia's website, saying he had talked to coach Marcelino Garcia Toral.

"Something clicked then, I played a lot of matches, and we won a cup and finished in the podium [top three] several times".
