Bandai Namco announced the re-release of the game Dark Souls

Shortly after Nintendo revealed Dark Souls: Remastered during this morning's Direct Mini, publisher Namco Bandai revealed that the game is also coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. This new and improved version of Dark Souls will light its way to release May 25, 2018, with more specifics to come before then. Players can expect 4K resolution and 60FPS on the PC. The Dark Souls Trilogy box set is set to release on May 24, and those who want to buy it are going to have to fork over a lot, as it's now priced at 49,800 yen, or $450. It's a cracking game. More than anything else, though, it's great that Bandai Namco finally listened to what fans have asking about for years and made a decision to remaster Dark Souls 1 at all. That could rely on how well the Switch version of Dark Souls: Remastered sells, but that's just speculation on my part.

The box set, of course, contains all three games in the series: Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, Dark Souls III: Fire Fades Edition. The original Dark Souls was first released in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so this version is touting "stunning high-definition detail". Whilst "Dark Souls" was hugely popular upon its release, certain areas in the game were taxing for the older systems and caused severe framerate issues which marred the experience. Bandai Namco and developer From Software are also increasing the multiplayer count to a maximum of six players.
