iOS: If the kid doubling as a monster wrangler in your life is hooked on catching oddly-shaped fictional animals (or if you're addicted to the game yourself), you'd better hope they have got a recent phone on which to play their favourite game. The most recent of these devices were released in 2013 so none of them are exactly new but for the thrifty few that use their smartphones until they're irreparable, this news may come as a disappointment. Niantic posted a full list of affected devices on its website. The company also said on Twitter that people will not have to upgrade to iOS 11 to keep playing Pokémon GO after February 28, 2018, as it will be possible to play on compatible devices running iOS 9 or later.

Apple has a history of rarely looking back on anything it has moved beynd - it won't re-incorporate hardware that it has once removed, and it certainly won't let you use older versions of its iOS once you've updated your device. Hopefully, this new update to Pokemon GO is worth it.
