Amazon is integrating the Alexa virtual assistant into more non-Amazon devices, including desktop and laptop computers from several manufacturers, a line of Kohler products and new vehicle models, according to The Verge and other publications covering the announcements coming out of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. Toyota announced the news at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Both Lexus and Toyota vehicles will benefit from the voice assistant; in particular those with the Entune 3.0 App Suite, including the 2018 Toyota Camry and Sienna, and the vast majority of current model year Lexus vehicles with the Enform App Suite 2.0.

In addition to being integrated with Windows 10 PCs from HP, Lenovo, Asus and Acer; Alexa also will power two Kohler toilets, a new bathroom mirror and other products from the new Kohler Konnect line, according to TechCrunch. Behind the scenes, the online retailer has aggressively orchestrated Alexa's rise by dramatically lowering the barrier for any company to add it to their products.

Japanese automaker Toyota will integrate Amazon's Alexa voice assistant into some of its cars as the auto industry increasingly adopts the tech world's hottest offerings to improve the vehicle experience. Amazon has similar arrangements with other carmakers, and in November it announced a suite of voice-activated work tools to bring Alexa to the office. With Alexa, customers can simply ask for directions, control entertainment, get the news, add items to a shopping list, control their smart home while on the road, and more.

"It's still really day one for us in terms of what we can do with Alexa in the vehicle", said John Scumniotales, head of products for Alexa's automotive efforts, onstage at an event at CES.

The partnership will bring to life Amazon's plans to expand its speech platform beyond one's home.
