Enes Kanter added 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Twenty five minutes of Tim Hardaway Jr. wasn't enough to lift the Knicks out of their road doldrums. But the Knicks went on a 14-4 run, drawing within nine points just under the two minutes mark.

Late in the half, Hardaway penetrated and kicked to an open Porzingis, who hit the catch-and-shoot 3-pointer. The Wolves' perimeter defense was just a step slow in this one, and the Knicks made them pay, which allowed them to hang around until the very end of the game.

Karl-Anthony Towns dominated, scoring 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting while grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing out nine assists. Porzingis entered the night having shot just 39.9 percent in his past 16 games - spanning Hardaway's absence.

The former MI star hit the court for the first time since late November with 5:45 left in the first quarter and bricked a corner 3 on his second possession.

Jarrett Jack led NY with 18 points and eight assists.

After eight straight games of holding their opponent under 100 points, Timberwolves had a rough game on the defensive end of the floor. He scored 16 points in 25 minutes off the bench.

Hardaway made his long-anticipated return Friday, coming off the bench for 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, but Kristaps Porzingis was still absent as the Knicks lost 118-108 to the Timberwolves at Target Center. Jeff Teague had 12 points and eight assists. He did miss an open 3-pointer on the last possession of the game that would have given Towns his second career triple-double, however, so the team's chemistry will probably tank because of Teague's selfishness.

Up 19, the Wolves allowed the Knicks to pull within nine on Porzingis' basket with 2:10 left. The Knicks had seven players score in double figures including point guard Jarrett Jack, who scored 18.

The Knicks managed to play the first half without attempting a free throw. But Jeff Teague's three-pointer started a 12-4 run that put the Wolves up 20-19 on Crawford's three-pointer.

- he scored 11 second-quarter points - the Knicks went up 57-49 on Hardaway's three-pointer.

That hot streak continued for the Knicks, who expanded their lead despite the fact the Wolves hit five of their first seven shots of the second quarter.

After falling behind 27-24 in the first quarter, the Wolves outscored the Knicks 94-81 in the final three quarters.

The lead was still eight after Wiggins' three-point play midway through the quarter.
