England vs Nigeria and Costa Rica in June World Cup warm-up friendlies

Costa Rica and England faced each other and drew 0-0 in the 2014 World Cup, before the Central Americans made the quarter finals and were knocked out on penalties by the Netherlands.

England will play global friendlies against Nigeria and Costa Rica ahead of the World Cup finals in Russian Federation, the Football Association (FA) announced on Wednesday (Jan 10).

"Equally, it's nice when we have an opportunity to take the team on the road".

The match will be only the third between both countries at senior level, and will serve as the Super Eagles' final preparatory game for the FIFA World Cup finals in Russian Federation, with their first match against Croatia in Kaliningrad coming exactly two weeks after.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Eagles' first match at Russian Federation 2018 is against Croatia in Kaliningrad exactly two weeks after. It is the fifth time Nigeria will be pitched against Argentina in the group stage of the World Cup.
