Edgar Bennett, Alex Van Pelt out as Packers coaches

The NFL is reporting that the Green Bay Packers have made some changes on the offensive side of the ball.

Ted Thompson served as the GM for the past 13 seasons but he has since "stepped down" and will be a senior adviser to football operations now.

While he referred all questions specific to candidates to team CEO Mark Murphy, he did admit that he is involved in the process of things.

This should be an attractive opening since the Packers aren't far off from returning to contender status.

McAdoo would seem to have Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' support for either position. But before we get to the latest news, here's a quick recap.

"We have several very strong internal candidates". Coach Mike McCarthy detailed some of those changes during his season-ending press conference on Thursday.

But what if McCarthy and the new general manager end up not being a good fit?

White House, lawmakers hopeful after budget talks
The statement from Republicans said Democrats should "not hold funding for our troops hostage for immigration policy". Trump is ending the Obama-era program that allowed them to stay and work legally in the United States.

Radon Action Month good time to test your home
Radon is an odorless, colorless radioactive gas, and it is the leading cause of lung cancer in nonsmokers. After construction is completed and the homeowner has moved in, a radon test is recommended.

Doug Jones is sworn in, shrinking GOP Senate majority
The news that Jones would tap Gresham was quickly celebrated by some of the activists who'd called for Senate staff diversity. Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore in a special election rocked by allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore.

"The foundation of who's here is what we're going to build off of", he said.

Thompson was hired as the Packers' general manager in 2005, and the team had a 125-82-1 record and won Super Bowl XLV under his watch.

McCarthy would never come out and say it, but Thompson's draft picks in recent years didn't always reflect what the coaches wanted, especially on defense. "These are hard personal decisions and we hope for the best for their families moving forward". I think everybody in our business has an ego.

"We didn't continue our streak of playoff appearances, so we need to reboot, cleanse, however you want to word it", McCarthy said. "Now, are we doing enough to win a world championship?" All aspects of football operations will be evaluated once the coaching staff is set. If no deal can be made, I hate to say it but Green Bay must look at cutting two of them to pursue free agents this offseason.

After signing a recent one-year contract extension, McCarthy's head-coaching contract runs through 2019.

"It's tough to see him step down".

The standards are high in a place nicknamed "Titletown". The Packers are the only publicly owned team in the NFL and play in the league's smallest market, about a two-hour drive north of Milwaukee. Injuries have plagued the cornerback position. Green Bay has finished in the top 10 in sacks in six of the last eight seasons.
