While Ben Affleck is expected to appear as Batman in a standalone Flash movie, it is highly unlikely he will don the cape and cowl in Matt Reeves' planned standalone Batman movie.

Ben Affleck has given a series of vague-ish answers to questions surrounding his commitment to the future of playing Batman on the big screen. Here's what an unnamed source had to say about the situation.

"Jon's gunning hard for the role", said the source.

It's said Jon Hamm is friends with Ben Affleck and realizes that Affleck has faced some criticism, but according to the site, Jon Hamm feels he is the better Batman. "This is business for Jon - not personal".

Jon Hamm is 46-years-old now and Ben Affleck is 45, so they're pretty much the exact same age.

The source goes on to describe Hamm as "desperate" for the Dark Knight gig, going so far as to be "carefully courting" The Batman director Matt Reeves for months. Just today, Varietyreported that Reeves was already considering recasting Affleck's role. Jake Gyllenhaal has also been chasing the role, and Matt has definitely been considering him.

It may yet be that Ben Affleck does line up to lead the cast of The Batman. An iconic part like this would take his career to the next level. Most recently, in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver.

Do you think Hamm would make a good Batman though?
