The Mi A1 is Xiaomi's first Android One device - it's basically a Mi 5X configured to run stock Android, if you can believe that. Now, Xiaomi has announced on their forum that they need beta testers for the Oreo update.

In order to become a beta tester, the users of the Xiaomi Mi A1 have to install the MIUI Global Forum app on the device and fill in the necessary information such as IMEI number of the device. Head over to the forum to apply before 23:59 PM on December 11 (Beijing Time). Once downloaded, go to the "Recruitment" section on the app's homepage. The company recently began recruiting Xiaomi Mi 6 owners who wanted to test a close beta version of Android Oreo based on MIUI's China Alpha ROM. The company is giving preference to active forum users. Aside from its sleek looks (taken from the Mi 5X, of course), it has very competent specs for a midrange phone. Before you enroll for Beta testing, be mindful that Beta builds are unstable and prone to occasional bugs and crashes. The Android One software only heightens the performance since there is no bloatware to speak of, and updates will come in steadily. Priced at Rs 14,999, it has a 5.5-inch FHD display with 1,080x1,920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, an Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system, a 4GB RAM, a 64GB storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card), and a 3,080mAh battery with fast charging technology. In terms of optics, the phone boasts dual 12 MP cameras (26mm, f/2.2; 50mm, f/2.6) with 2x optical zoom and dual LED flash.
