Shashi Kapoor prayer meet: Rekha, Hema Malini and Karisma Kapoor in attendance

On Monday, youngest son of Indian film industry's legitimate hero Prithviraj Kapoor, actor, director and producer Shashi Kapoor passed away in Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. He passed away today on December 4, 2017 at the age of 79. You will be missed Shashiji! Shashi won a National Film Award for Best Actor in 1986 for the film "New Delhi Times" and even the Special Jury award in 1994 for the film "In Custody". Spent countless hours watching movies of this legendary and charming actor while growing up.

Ranbir Kapoor was in attendance at his grand-uncle and veteran actor Shashi Kapoor's last rites on Tuesday as the entire Kapoor clan bid farewell to their family member. Randhir Kapoor presided over the rituals while Rishi Kapoor's wife Neetu Kapoor also walked in.

He was honoured with the the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011.

He debuted with the 1961 film Dharmputra.

Shashi Kapoor will always be remembered for his brilliant line up of films, not just in India but overseas as well.He starred in over 175 films in the span of his career and also revived Prithvi Theatre along with his wife Jennifer Kendal.

He also produced several hit films like Junoon, Kalyug, Vijeta and Utsav.
