Onslow County DA confirms body found in Pender County is Mariah Woods

Body found in Pender County has been positively identified as Mariah Woods, per the Onslow County Sheriff's Office.

The toddler's body, which was found in a muddy creek about 25 miles away from her home in Jacksonville, was positively identified on Wednesday more than a week after her mother Kirsty Woods first reported her missing on November 27.

Kimrey was charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property. He has not been charged with the toddler's murder.

Court documents obtained by WTVD list several acts of abuse against Mariah Woods and her two brothers.

A lot of effort went into the search for three-year-old Mariah Woods last week and it took the generosity of a community to help bring everything and everyone together.

Kristy's 32-year-old boyfriend, Earl Kimrey, was arrested in connection with Mariah's death.

Smith told NewsChannel reporter Nate Belt that on her first day of donations alone, she gathered about $1,000 worth of food. Her body was found on December 1 in a creek in Pender County, miles from her Onslow County home.
