Manchester derby: Pep Guardiola in the clear over Redmond rant

The FA will take no further action against Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following his heated discussion with Southampton's Nathan Redmond, Sky Sports News understands.

Raheem Sterling's stoppage-time victor earned City a 2-1 victory over Redmond's Saints and afterwards Guardiola approached the forward.

Shortly after Raheem Sterling's last-gasp victor and the final whistle, Guardiola walked on to the pitch and harangued Redmond, the 23-year-old England worldwide.

In spite of Redmond's insistence that Guardiola had said nothing untoward, the FA confirmed they would be investigating the incident due to Guardiola's seemingly antagonistic demeanour.

The Sun in the United Kingdom - through help from a supposed lip-reader - had claimed Guardiola called Redmond "a wanker" as he seemingly berated the Englishman while both left the pitch. I did the same in Dortmund and had regret there after the game and the same now.

"What I said is what I said and what Nathan said in his statement".

Redmond went public on the matter after an article in The Sun newspaper accused Guardiola of aiming foul and abusive language towards him and insisted the Catalan's "intense and aggressive" approach was wholly well-intentioned. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Losing the game the way we did in the last kick of the game after working so hard for 90+ minutes, I was very disappointed". If they want to listen to me then I will do it. "Hopefully I can improve".

Guardiola's City are eight points clear of Manchester United at the top of the table - and only United have ever overcome such a deficit after 15 games in Premier League history.
