Lancashire raids: Nelson man charged with terrorism offences

A terror suspect in the United Kingdom was today charged with terrorist offences for allegedly sharing details of Britain's 4-year-old Prince George on an encrypted online messaging service, police said.

It is alleged Mr Rashid from Nelson, Lancashire, shared a picture of Prince George and details of his school.

Husnain Rashid, 31, allegedly made the post about the four-year-old prince on messaging app Telegram, along with other posts which allegedly identifying terror targets in the UK.

The plan allegedly involved planting a bomb near the entrance of Downing Street and then continuing the attack with a knife and suicide vest in a bid to kill the United Kingdom leader in the ensuing chaos.

Chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot remanded balding Rashid, who had a large beard, in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on December 20.

However he said interim measures would be put in place for staff who reached the age of 65 and who wished to remain on. He said there would be no changes to minimum retirement ages.

A man has been charged with terrorism offences after being arrested in Lancashire last month.

Britain's Sun newspaper reported that Rashid allegedly posted the silhouette of an Islamic State fighter beside George together with a message suggesting the royal family would not be left alone.

Rahman is also accused of assisting Imran in terror planning.

Rashid was arrested on Wednesday November 22 as officers from Lancashire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing carried out raids on two properties in Leonard Street.
