Cold air, gusty winds continue to push into region

Monday: Sunshine and a few clouds, cool. Perhaps a flurry in the Poconos. This drags a cold front into Eastern Kentucky. We did see a period of rain and some gusty winds with the frontal passage. Some accumulation is most likely over southeastern areas.

Thursday Night: Partly clear and cold. Interestingly enough, the high temperatures for Wednesday have technically already occurred. Highs are mainly in the mid-40s but, with breezes picking up from the west, should feel even colder. Right now, it looks like the best chance of seeing snow is later Saturday afternoon, overnight and briefly Sunday morning. Temperatures will hover in the 40s and lower 50s after 7:00 am, then they'll drop through the 40s during the course of the afternoon. Overnight lows in the week ahead will mainly be in the 30s. Temps remain below normal for this time of year. The trough with the jet stream should linger into next week as well, although it may modify a little at the very beginning of next week. Some flurries are possible along with another shot of cold weather. Temperatures waste no time dropping into the 30s in the evening.

A Garda has been shot in north Dublin this morning reported that one member of the ERU was shot in the arm while another man was shot in the shoulder. The officer and the man have been brought to hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Looking likely that most of the Arklatex could stay totally dry during the next seven days. However, it still bears watching just in case, especially towards the I-95 corridor. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies, brisk breezes, and colder temperatures to be the rule through the rest of the weekend. Temps will be in the 30s for highs.

A clipper will sweep by to the northeast on Wednesday. Snow showers to start off the work week through Tuesday. We could see a few flakes mix in the with rain early on Friday and again Friday night.
