Time Magazine Names "The Silence Breakers" As "Person Of The Year"

Taylor Swift was awarded with a symbolic $1 million when she won her case against former Denver DJ David Mueller.

Despite his overwhelming stranglehold on the news cycle in his first year in office, Pres. Trump, who recently said he would reject the honor if presented - and who has himself was accused of sexual assault or harassment by almost a dozen women during the presidential campaign - was the runner-up for Person of the Year, with Chinese President Xi Jinping coming in third.

The men and women who broke their silence on sexual harassment are named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2017. She then detailed her courtroom experience at this summer's trial-the result of a defamation lawsuit Mueller filed in 2015, and an subsequent countersuit from Swift-in which Swift came out victorious. After Swift complained, Mueller was sacked, but he then retaliated and sued Swift for damages, asking for millions of dollars in retribution. "This man hadn't considered any formalities when he assaulted me, and his lawyer didn't hold back on my mom-why should I be polite?" she explained.

Swift also gave her thoughts on the growing "awareness" about sexual assault in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations, and the roadblocks of trauma and fearing of being blamed that continue to make it hard for victims to come forward.

Swift agreed that the #metoo movement and the countless powerful men who have been taken down and exposed for sexual harassment prove "important for awareness". "Most people thought I was suing him". The man sued Tay for $3 million because he was sacked from the station as a result, and she countersued for $1. "I'm told it was the most amount of times the word "ass" has ever been said in Colorado Federal Court", she said.

There is still a long way to go when it comes to sexual harassment and assault and it's disheartening to know that Mueller has still not paid Swift the court-ordered $1. You could be blamed for the fact that it happened, for reporting it and blamed for how you reacted.
