Aretha Franklin Is Alive & Well, Responds to Death Rumors

You may or may not have seen it, but a tweet went out early on Tuesday claiming that Aretha Franklin had passed away. It didn't take long for "RIP" messages to flood the social networking site. "Have a good day", she wrote. The site posted the following photo and message on Instagram several hours ago.

The rumor was started by a phony Aretha Franklin Twitter account: "It Is With Sad News That We Announce The Passing Of The "Queen Of Soul" Aretha Franklin 1942-2017". Every few months, it seems, there is a story about Franklin having cancer.

However, Franklin said in a statement to Us Weekly that she's "doing well generally" and all of her recent health tests came back positive.

Aretha Franklin's is reportedly battling cancer, however, she is still alive at this time. She had surgery and lost a lot of weight, but didn't disclose the reasons.

However, Franklin seems to be doing just fine these days. After all, she was on stage just at the beginning of this month, performing at the Elton John AIDs Foundation's gala show in NY.

Now Aretha Franklin is the latest to fall victim to the hoax reports, but the singing superstar isn't taking it lying down. According to the report, Franklin "closed the event with a collection of songs", and the gala was successful in raising over $4 million for AIDS research.

There was not any mention of an ill-looking or frail Franklin in that report.

Earlier this year, Franklin did say that she was planning to retire from touring by the end of the year.

"This will be my a year ago".

However, the Respect hitmaker did ominously cancel concerts this year in Martha's Vineyard, Chicago, and Canada due to 'an undisclosed medical issue'. "This is it", she told Click on Detroit. Thanxxxx for your concern'.

The multiple Grammy victor is one of the giants of modern music, famous for hits like "Freeway of Love", "I Say a Little Prayer", "Baby I Love You, '" "Think" and "Chain of Fools"-to name a very few". I'll be pretty much satisfied, but I'm not going to go anywhere and just sit down and do nothing.
