Creative Assembly revealed its plans for a historical Total War spin-off series back in July, comparing the scale of these games to the standalone expansion to Total War: Shogun 2, Fall of the Samurai.

The Total War games usually span generations and multiple epochs, but Thrones of Britannia centers on the European wars that took place around 878 AD. The political outlook had the Norse warlords established while the kings of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland had their own ambitions.

Creative Assembly claim that Thrones of Britannia will have "the most detailed Total War campaign map ever made". Years before, the British Isles came under siege from the Great Heathen Army, a vast horde of Vikings led by the sons of Ragnar Loddbrok.

"Our aim with Total War Sagas is to explore key flashpoints at distinct places and times in history", said series director, Mike Simpson, in a press release sent to GamesBeat.

We'll be confirming all ten of the playable factions over the coming months but for now we can tell you that you'll be able to play as Anglo-Saxons, Viking settlers and certain Gaelic clans.

NCAA reconsiders, grants NC State's Braxton Beverly waiver to play right away
The coaching change led Beverly to reconsider his decision to attend Ohio State and eventually transfer to NC State a month later. He chose to transfer two weeks later with a full release from Ohio State and a letter of endorsement from Matta to the NCAA.

The game will offer a super-detailed campaign map, with more regional distinction.

What engine is it built from? .

A Total War game, with the modern innovations of the recent Warhammer games but none of the overpowered spells or zombies. The first game in this interesting looking spin-off series is yet to be priced, or receive a release date other than "2018", so it looks like strategy fans have plenty of time to get that battle-axe sharpened. It will release on Windows PC.

Thrones of Britannia is, like the rest of the Total War franchise, a turn-based strategy game with RTS battles. And watch the announce trailer here https://youtu.be/nGI-EKX5O5w.
