Shawn Mendes, Eminem and U2 among winners at MTV Europe Music Awards

Eminem's new single 'Walk On Water' featuring Beyonce is getting all kinds of reactions from the audience. "Holding Me Back" had already won the EMA for best song earlier in the evening, with Mendes thanking his "best friends, Teddy [Geiger], Scott [Harris] & Geoff [Warburton], for writing this song with me".

Eminem kicked off the MTV EMAs 2017 a short while ago with his first live performance of the new single.

Hitting London's SSE Arena Wembley, the highly underestimated singer performed the self-healing anthem from her latest album, Rainbow.

The Irish band dedicated the award to label boss Chris Blackwell of Island records, who signed them nearly 40 years ago.

Shawn Mendes beat Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran to win the best-artist prize Sunday at the MTV EMAs, while U2 were proclaimed global icons in a show that celebrated London's diverse culture, from pubs to pirate radio.

U2 performed in London's Trafalgar Square the night before the MTV awards, along with DJ Guetta, to a crowd of 7,000 who won free tickets in a ballot.

British singer and actress Rita Ora took charge of the ceremony and also turned in a popular stage performance.
