"It's good to be back, guys", Jimmy said on Monday's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It's pretty raw stuff, especially from a host who's often accused of being somewhat one-note and superficial.

Fallon's 68-year-old mother died on 4 November at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC. In his speech, Fallon said that he'd "never stop trying to make her laugh".

But while his mom was at the hospital, Fallon squeezed her hand to say "I love you", but Gloria was unable to squeeze his hand back. "I love you", he said.

Swift, whose new album Reputation dropped last Friday and is charging to the chart summit in the USA, United Kingdom and in markets around the globe, stopped by the Tonight Show studios Monday evening to dish out some music therapy: a performance of "New Year's Day".

Swift, who was not scheduled to appear on the show agreed to perform her new track when invited by producers at the last minute.

While singing "New Year's Day", Swift delivered a lyric which paraphrases Fallon's tender story - "Squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi". "Tears. I think everyone in the audience started sobbing", he wrote. We all lost it.

Taylor sat down at the piano to sing the heartfelt song and was accompanied by just an acoustic guitar and some backup singers.

DiCenzo also said production edited out a minute of the show to leave room for Fallon high-fiving members of the audience, because that was his mother's favorite part.
