Content from Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR is also said to arrive on Vive Wave soon.

Created to be an all-in-one device, the Focus won't need to be hooked up to a powerful desktop PC in order to run and won't have the same interactivity constraints that mobile VR now has. Therefore it seems likely that those companies intent to integrate Vive Wave into their hardware. It doesn't appear HTC has mentioned any pricing at this time, though the company does say that more than 100 developers are now working on content for Focus.

Supporting this headset and the VR world in general is Vive Wave, which is, according to HTC, "an open platform and toolset that will enable easy Mobile VR content development and high-performance device optimisation for third-party partners". "Vive Wave will assure a higher consistency in the user experience on a variety of mobile VR devices across various price points, making quality VR more accessible to the mass market". The company unveiled its standalone device at an event in China this evening, explaining that its new VR device gives people the freedom to enjoy virtual reality content wherever they are.

Beyond the Vive headset, Google had announced that they were also working with Lenovo on a wireless Daydream headset.

We already knew that the Focus packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with instant on support, and now we're told that it also features a "high-resolution" AMOLED screen plus a rotational head strap that's similar to the Vive's Deluxe Audio Strap. At the time, the details were scarce, but now the company has revealed more details about the Vive Focus. The representative that we spoke with declined to discuss the full specifications of the hardware and would not say how much the Vive Focus would cost or when it would be available. HTC boasts that its model is the first of its kind to feature an inside-out 6-degree-of-freedom tracking tech otherwise known as 6DoF.

Predictably, the Vive Focus headset is fully compatible with the Vive Wave open platform and Viveport content distribution system.

Alongside this announcement, HTC also unleashed its new VR development platform, which will be utilised by the Focus.
